Room 6

Room 6 has been working hard all term on a wonderful Art Unit.

We have worked on creating colourful crosses using wire.

The children have been able to work independently on designing and decorating their crosses using beads, sequins, feathers and a number of other interesting bits and bobs.

The symbol of the cross is a significant part of our Catholic faith and central to the Easter story.

Here's what some of the students thought about designing wire crosses…

I felt so excited because it was my first time using wire to make crosses. I found it a bit hard because I couldn't see the holes in the tiny beads. When I had finished I wanted to do it all over again! I enjoyed doing the crosses because our crosses turned out sparkly and shiny.

Maryanne Pomale.

When I first made my big wire cross I thought it was hard word. I thought the sharp pointy edges were dangerous, and they were!

When Mrs Kulik told us that we were making crosses I was so surprised. I was eager to do it. First, she picked some people to make a cross. When I fist did mine it was so so cool. When we all finished they all looked so lovely.

When I was doing my cross it felt like it was very hard but I had perseverance I enjoyed making my cross with Mrs Kulik. I felt happy because it was so fun.

I felt nervous when I had to design my own cross. When I made it, it was so hard because of the threading. I felt proud when I finished my cross.

When I was making my wire cross I enjoyed it because I got to use my favourite colours and I used lots of beads that were all different shapes and sizes.

Nicholas Toeava.

When Mrs Kulik said that we were going to make crosses I got excited. I found it hard because I did not know how to sew wire. That was one of the best things I have done in my life.
