The New Oral Language Intensive Programme
This work has improved the thinking, oral participation, vocabulary and knowledge of the 5 year olds in Room 9.
We have 3 activities on a topic each week. 2 of these topics were Crossing the Road and Dinosaurs, as you can see in the photographs.
1. With objects to touch and handle the students learn to use sentences while speaking along with the teacher.The children observe and use the objects, then tell us what they notice.
2. The second activity uses stimulating photographs of the topic. We talk together about these, choose on to write about, then do this together.
3. The third session is talking about a book related to the topic, then listening to and reading it.
