MAKING BEESWAX CANDLES
As part of Room 4's study on 'Bees', we learnt how to make and decorate our own beeswax candles.
First we sketched a line drawing showing what we wanted our candles to look like.

We thought about when and where our candles would be used, and chose suitable symbols and colours.

We learnt how to place a length of cotton string on a sheet of beeswax, to use as a wick.
We carefully rolled up our beeswax sheets to make a candle, making sure that they were even on all sides.

Ms Shaw melted down some old candles, to produce many colours of melted wax.
We used the melted wax to decorate our beeswax candles.

We tried out our candles at home and during class prayer, and they looked and smelled beautiful!
