TAMAKI STREAM PROJECT
One of the highlights of Term 3 was our involvement with the Tamaki Stream Project at Rodney Street in Otahuhu. Room i3 pupils assisted the Auckland City Council, Eco- Matters and the Weed-Free Trust with the planting of native trees. After a prayer to bless the project the children got down to digging and planting. It was important for the children to understand that they can be the change in their environment. This project continues the concept of reverence, respect for the environment. The children learnt about what the stream had once been like. A beautiful area for native birds and a healthy stream that was filled with eels, ( from Samoa), shrimps and fish. Lets hope that it will return to that state.
