SCIENCE ALIVE
This term during science, our student teacher, Miss Tooley, taught us about:

acids and bases

the ph scale

the scienfic method

the periodic table

physical and chemical reactions

atoms and molecules
We did a number of experiments to investigate:

how bromothymol blue and universal indicator show us the level of acidity or alkalinity of a substance
-
how light rays bounce off substances and change to a different colour indicating that the molecules are still in the substance
-
the chemical reaction that happens when you mix pva solution, sodium bicarbonate and aluminium sulphate, sodium borate solution
We also learnt the names of a number of different items used in a laboratory as well as how to use them correctly. We practised doing the 'pour and pass' method.
