 John Pulu visits St Joseph's

Have you ever wondered what skills you need to be a

TV superstar?

At our recent Duffy Role Model assembly, John Pulu from the TV program Tagata Pasifika, talked to us about the important skills you need to become a journalist and TV presenter.

When he was younger John didn’t like reading - he didn’t see the point. But after a work experience visit to TVNZ he decided he wanted to be a journalist so he got reading!

John told us that when you work in TV you need to be able to research information about a topic, read newspapers and websites for information, write and read scripts and be able to read the auto cue (that’s the words TV presenters read when they are looking at the camera).

It was great having John Pulu encourage us to keep reading.

"It's cool to read and cool to achieve!"
