On Saturday the 7 March, the LEISURE WALKING GROUP went on their first walk for 2009. We were all looking forward to this walk, after all, the past few Saturdays had been pretty gloomy, what with the weather and all!
After a short drive from school we arrived at Totara Park. Snap! Snap! The camera clicked, a quick shot at the entrance before we made our way into the park, ready for the challenge we were about to face. Trudging through bushes and trees we went, chatting all the way.
Just when we thought the challenge was over, what did we see?… at least 100 steep, steep, skinny stairs…especially made for us! Can we do it?...
Yay! We made it, exhausted… water has never tasted so good! Oh no! Would you believe it we had to go back down again!(which of course meant climbing those dreaded stairs yet again). So much work, pain, pain, pain…but we did it! I think I can, I know I can, I will…
After a few more encounters like those stairs, at last, hooray, we made it!! We'd finally come to the end of our walk, legs like jelly, wet with sweat, tummies to be fed and thirsts to be quenched!
Would we do it again…of course…after all we're walkers of R1.
