ONE TREE HILL
For our last leisure walk of the term, we had an early start. We all met at school at 7.30am to head off to One Tree Hill bright and early, luckily the weather was perfect, no rain, just crisp and clear.

We walked to the top of One Tree Hill to see the statue of Kupe, one of the early Polynesian navigators. The views from the top were breath taking, we could see across to Rangitoto Island, down to Eden Park, across to the west lay the Waitakere Ranges and to the south we managed to see beyond St Joseph's and Manukau city.

On our return to the car, we stopped to have a brief look at Acacia Cottageā¦read all about it on one of the photographs. It was fascinating seeing the beautiful wooden floors as well as the old style furniture, such as the old beds.

Have a look at our photos to see what you could do on the odd Saturday or Sunday with your family, it really is fun to get out there and enjoy the outdoors instead of getting in the car and going shopping, or just sitting around the house playing video games.

It's amazing how many people are out there enjoying themselves, FOR FREE, just around the corner from where a lot of us live. We saw, dog-walkers, cyclists, people skiing on roller skates, or roller blades, parents running with their children, pushing their babies in prams, all sorts of people...old and young.
Come on we challenge you to do something as simple as this over your weekends, or at least every now and then! You won't believe the fun you can have, not to mention how much you can learn.
