OTAHUHU MUSICAL FESTIVAL 2010
Every year schools in Otahuhu have a combined Music Festival. I was so thrilled to be a part of the St Joseph's choir. One morning Miss Horgan called me to her office and I was asked to sing a song by myself. I felt shy and timid as I sang "Shout to the Lord". I continued to attend singing practices. After a few days Miss Horgan announced the names of the children who were selected for the choir. I waited nervously. At last I heard my name called. I was overjoyed and so excited.
Three times a week the sixty two of us who were selected for the music festival practised the songs. Sometimes I enjoyed the practices and sometimes I found them tedious. I found it easy to memorise the words which I learned in the school holidays. Then came the day when all the children came to sing together at Otahuhu College. I was nervous but I was really enthusiastic to a member of this choir.
After three practices at Otahuhu College the big night dawned. Sister Ann took me and when I arrived at the back of the hall I joined the crowd of exuberant children. Finally I stood on the stage. I looked down at a hall full of happy faces. Suddenly all was hushed. We then burst into our first song "Poi E".
Which was the opening of a bracket of New Zealand Songs. I really enjoyed being a part of singing in a choir.

When Mona Williams came and told us some stories, I was bedazzled, from when she started because the way she told the story caught my attention as fast as a lightning bolt striking someone. Charlotte

When Mona Williams came to visitor school, I was really excited. Why was I really excited? You may be asking, because our teacher had been reading some of her stories about her childhood to us. Mona told us two stories, one was called Elfwyn's Saga it was about a girl named Elfwyn she was blind. Her village was under a spell, she helped break that spell and set them free. Sharnin
I really enjoyed the story, Elfwyn's Saga, because Mona used different voices; it made the story more alive, helped us to keep focussed and really entertained us. Tohi
